General and detailed production regulations for organic agriculture are mentioned in Chapter III, Article 9 and Annex II, Part I: Plant production rules of Regulation (EU) 2018/848.
The specific legislation applicable in Germany related to the application of fertilizers must be adhered additionally, e.g. the organic waste regulations.
Supplementary to the mentioned measures, only substances listed in Annex II, Regulation (EU) 2021/1165 may be used as fertilizers. Their use is only permitted in compliance with the regulations for use described therein. Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and substances produced from or by GMOs (GMO derivatives) may not be used.
Fertilizers and soil conditioners must be marketable in accordance with the specific EU or national legislation for fertilizers. Manufacturers or distributors are responsible for the fulfillment of and compliance with these legal requirements - especially correct labeling.
In the following information sheet you will find further information on the marketability of fertilisers in Germany and the EU.
