For elimination of insects and other pests in buildings and other facilities for animal husbandry, the EU Regulation (EU) 2018/848 allows products that are approved for use in organic production according to Articles 9 and 24.
Prescription veterinary medicines are not included in the Input list.
Products against parasites in the Input list are divided into the following categories:
Products for beekeeping
According to Regulation (EU) 2018/848 Annex II, Part II, Section 1.9.6.5 (housing and husbandry practices), only natural products such as propolis, wax and vegetable oils may be used in the beehives.
As per Annex II, Part II, Section 1.9.6.3 (Health care), formic acid, lactic acid, acetic acid and oxalic acid as well as menthol, thymol, eucalyptol or camphor may be used in cases of infestation with Varroa destructor. The exclusive use of the above mentioned substances eliminates the need to isolate the bee colonies, replace the wax and observe a one-year conversion period. Rodenticides (in traps only) and suitable products and substances approved for use in organic production according to Articles 9 and 24 may be used to protect frames, canes and combs.
